Having our most precious archive of VHS memories digitised by Digital Legacy was a superb experience. Everything, from the first interaction on the website to ordering and receiving the digitised videos was seamless, immensely reassuring and very professionally done. It’s obviously a little concerning to send off the only copies you have of your memories but the smart pre-packaging sent worked perfectly and the simplicity of accounting for each tape and labelling each before sending off was helpful. The quality of the digitised files is superb. I have more to digitise - video, stills and audio and will feel absolutely secure using Digital Legacy for all of it!

Typical turnaround is 2-4 weeks from when we receive your media. The exact timing depends on what you send in and the condition it arrives in: capture runs in real time, and anything that needs cleaning or repair first takes a little longer. That window includes careful digitisation, quality checks, and return shipping.
Absolutely! We treat your memories with the utmost care. Our professional team uses state-of-the-art equipment, and your original media is handled in a clean, climate-controlled environment once it reaches our lab. We use tracked postage for our Media Box outbound and return journeys. Carriers are responsible for goods while they are in the post; we cannot guarantee a carrier will never mis-handle a parcel, but we have not had a customer's Media Box go missing, and we follow a careful tracked workflow we are confident in.
If we encounter any issues with your media that prevent successful digitisation (like severe damage), we'll contact you immediately to discuss options. You will never be charged for items we cannot digitise.
We standardly provide MP4 for video, MP3/WAV for audio, and high-resolution JPEG for photos. These are widely compatible with all modern TVs, computers, and phones. We can also provide uncompressed formats for professionals upon request.
We provide a secure, reinforced Media Box with a prepaid tracked return label. Transit is handled by postal and courier carriers, so we cannot guarantee their handling on every journey. Once digitised, we return your originals along with your new digital copies via tracked delivery, and to date we have not had a Media Box shipment go missing.
